Leia Scott has sworn
off love. Fresh from a messy, public divorce from her hockey player ex,
the twenty-six-year-old fashion designer temporarily trades New York for
London to heal and embrace her freedom. Her vow? To protect her heart,
steer clear of relationships, and say yes to flings without strings. She
throws herself into designing upcycled dresses and exploring London
with her sister. But Leia’s carefully curated plan encounters a flirty
complication with an irresistible British accent.
Wealthy,
charming, and devastatingly attractive, Tarquin Balfour istired of
meaningless hookups and dates that go nowhere. For years, he has played
the bon viveur with reckless abandon, throwing decadent parties,
sleeping with a parade of women, and diving into extreme sports around
the globe. But now the young property developer wants more. He craves
love and commitment, to prove his kind heart matters more than the
abundance of zeroes attached to his bank balance. Struggling with
undiagnosed depression, Tarquin worries he’ll never find The One…until
he meets his princess, a fashion designer named Leia.
Afraid of
falling in love and fearful of being alone, Leia and Tarquin enter into
an entanglement that threatens to hurt them both.
From the
award-winning author of UNTIL THE LAST STAR FADES, comes a sexy story of
love, second chances, gratitude, and finding beauty in the broken and the forgotten.
Say Hello, Kiss Goodbye tells the story of Leia, an upcycled-fashion designer who just wants to focus on her career, and that has sworn not to fall in love again, and Tarquin’s story, a man looking for a real relationship, a real connection. Since the moment they met, there is something between them. But neither of them can imagine how connected they can be or how difficult things might get.
Jacquelyn Middleton has done it again, giving us a lovely romantic story, full of amazing characters. I deeply enjoyed reading this book. Not only because it brings together new and beloved characters from previous books, or because it happens mostly in London, or due to the fact that Tarquin is such a sweetheart. It is because it brings together romance, drama, steaminess, friendship, and real struggles in the best possible way.
Jackie talks about important things such as mental health and even eco-friendly fashion and she addresses them in an interesting way. The characters are complex and relatable. I loved Tarquin. I mean what’s not to love? He is a foodie, he loves cats, he loves books and well…he has an English accent! Leia, on the other hand, was a strong and determined character, I liked her energy; even through hardship, she has accomplished a lot.
It was also nice to see more of Simon and Freddie and Harry and Lucy. We also get appearances from our most favorite characters, from Alex to Ben and even Joan!
I enjoyed reading more about London and Orkney as well. And, I liked the whole fashion theme too.
Overall, it was a beautiful story, a story that felt real, with characters that have chemistry between them and that go through real struggles but that can overcome with the right kind of help, either medical, spiritual, or support from their loved ones.
Say Hello, Kiss Goodbye has a little bit of everything in just the right combination. It is a captivating and gripping story that I deeply enjoyed. Now the problem is which characters from Jackie’s books are my favorite, I love them all it is hard to choose!
